Could This be At All Viable for GvG?
I mostly doubt it, considering the l33tness of GvG, but it was just a crazy thought I came up with to try to utilize Siphon Strength. It would actually probably also be useful for TA, RA (possibly, though you would have to get a monk team), and PvE. It's meant as a linebacker to defend against Warriors, Dervs, and fellow 'Sins through attacker-shutdown and powerful, persistant knockdowns and DPS.
Counter Blow
Crushing Blow
Malicious Strike/Hammer Bash
Flail
Siphon Speed
Siphon Strength
Critical Eye
Resurrection Signet/Critical Defenses
The build's pretty simple: Throw up your buffs before engaging, hex your target with both SS's (Siphon Speed afterward to act as a cover hex), and start building adrenaline. Spam Counter Blow and follow up with Crushing Blow and Malicious Strike as needed to add more DPS as well as a Deep Wound. Try to keep Flail up as much as possible, which even when using Counter blow which will take a strike of adrenaline away, should be up approximately 5/6ths of the time. Reapply hexes and buffs as needed.
Now, you've got a melee both snared and gimped for damage, plus you're adding strong DPS on top of that. Also, you can of course apply Siphon Speed on any target for a snare, and if you bring Hammer Bash, you can assist spikes with HB+CB. As for damage, you've got about 40 DPS before attack skills and considering you can potentially knock down someone every ~4.5 seconds.
In comparison to a Dev Hammer warrior, this has utility in the form of snares, strong attacker shutdown, attacker KD's, and a slightly higher DPS (I think), whereas a Dev Hammer has utility in the form of more KD's (in most situations, especially if you bring Heavy Blow), A stronger spike, and the ability to penetrate the enemy front/midline. Basically, one is exceptionally strong against physical foes, and the other is just strong against everything, though has a tad bit less utility.
I really doubt this will be very useful, but it was just an idea I had to try to make use of an under-used skill. Any comments for improving it might be nice.
